We were never meant to live the Christian life alone. Rather, it was God's good plan to bring us into a community of believers who are united by their love and devotion to Jesus Christ. At BeFree, we follow Jesus together through our weekly rhythm of gathering and scattering. We gather on Sunday mornings for a time of worship and then we scatter throughout the week into our various home groups.

The purpose of home groups is to help Christ's people engage in meaningful community as we come to look more and more like Him. We have found that it is in these more intimate settings that we grow closer to one another, deeper in our relationship with the Lord, and are able to reach wider into our community with the good news of Jesus Christ.

These home groups are central to who we are as a church. Our goal is to see everyone who calls BeFree Alton their home church connected to our community in this way. If you are interested in hearing more or in joining a home group, please email Lead Pastor Ben Ruhl.

What Happens in a Home Group?

Though each home group looks a little different, we try to embody the same values. No matter which home group you join, you will find yourself in a community that is intentional about building relationship, worship, discipleship, life together, and mission.

Relationship: We seek to grow meaningful relationships with one another through times of intentional fellowship. Everything we do, from sharing a meal, to checking in on our week, to time of mutual accountability to prayer, is to this end.

Worship: We desire that our home groups would lead us to a place of worship. We do this in a variety of ways such as studying the Bible, reading a book, singing songs, praying, or celebrating our Lord together.

Discipleship: A disciple is simply a follower of Jesus. We believe that we will come to better understand what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ when we follow him alongside one another.

Life Together: Deep and meaningful relationships cannot be formed through one meeting a week. Rather, we long to see the relationships that form in our home groups extend beyond their scheduled gatherings and into their everyday lives.

Mission: As we scatter throughout our region, we take the Gospel with us. Our home groups seek to welcome anyone into our community, both believers and non-believers, in order to spread the love of Jesus Christ to those around us.
